Film Fund Luxembourg was first established in 1990 & then restructured in 1999. It exists primarily to foster an environment in which the country’s film industry can develop & flourish. The Fund implements the government's overall audiovisual support policy, managing the program through which the Luxembourg government provides financial support to audiovisual productions. The Fund cooperates closely with audiovisual industry representatives - such as the Luxembourg Film Academy, Luxembourg Producers Association (ULPA), the Writer’s & Director’s Association (LARS) & the association representing local film technicians (ALTA) - in promoting the sector’s development. It also assists supervisory ministers in multiple areas: drafting of regulations & legislation, development of international co-production agreements, compiling statistics related to the sector, etc. Film Fund Luxembourg represents Luxembourg in all European & international audiovisual initiatives, e.g. Eurimages & Creative Europe. In 2003, the Fund began overseeing the organization of the Luxembourg Film Awards (Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis), which rewards the country’s best film contributions. Since 2014, the Film awards have been organized in close collaboration with the Luxembourg Film Academy (d'Filmakademie).
