Read-Y | Innovative Initiatives

Read-Y is a digital library that gives Luxembourg high-school students (as well as their teachers and librarians) access to 20,000 digital books in German, French, and English.
The initiative was launched in summer 2020 to encourage young people to read for pleasure. It is available on the SORA app via ready.script.lu. Students aged 14+ who hold BNL or ebooks.lu partner library cards can also borrow e-books from the vast (and regularly restocked) selection.
The shift from “Digital Luxembourg” to “Innovative Initiatives” gives us the flexibility to evolve with Luxembourg’s changing needs. It reflects a shift in priorities too. Under its new name, Innovative Initiatives communicates on & drives projects in the areas of (1) digital skills, (2) data policy, (3) connectivity & (4) new technology—areas in which the Department of Media, Connectivity & Digital Policy has unique expertise.
“Digital” has become synonymous with modern society. Our name change trades “Digital” for “Innovative” in order to emphasize the root of what makes digitalization relevant: its potential for positive transformation.
