The 28th Forum* euro-IX will take place from April 24 to 26, 2016 in Luxembourg. This Forum is organised by the European association of Internet exchange points, euro-IX, which gathers 80 Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) in the world. Founded in May 2001, it aims to develop and strengthen the IXP community. In this context, two Forums are held each year in different European cities. Each event brings together more than one hundred and twenty professionals in the telecommunications sector, especially the Internet, from around the world.
LU-CIX, the Luxembourg Commercial Internet eXchange, is pleased to host for the first time this Forum at the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
Participants will attend two days of conferences on focused technical subjects mainly dealing with challenges and issues of the Internet, exchange points and peering.
The Forum will also be the opportunity for the euro-IX team to organised a General Meeting and make important decisions for the development of both the association and the Internet sector in Europe.
On the margins of the conferences, a visit of Luxembourg will be proposed to all participants to offer them the opportunity to get an overview of the country, its strengths and its potential. They will have both the opportunity to visit iconic structures such as SES and RTL as to enjoy local beer in the friendly atmosphere of a traditional brewery in the “Grund”. Such activities allied to the lecture series will for sure contribute to strengthening the links between the Internet exchanges in Europe and in the world. “We are really happy and very proud that LU-CIX and Luxembourg have been chosen for hosting the euro-IX forum, which shows once more that Luxembourg is on the map as an ICT hub”, says Frédérique Ulrich, Business Development Manager at LU-CIX asbl.
