The European Commission’s STARTS initiative has launched a new project (“Vertigo”) as part of which a call for artist residencies has been published.
The deadline for applications is the 2 March.
The aim of the VERTIGO STARTS residencies programme is to bring together artists and research and development (R&D) projects in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
Artists who would like to submit an application are invited to choose an R&D project from the a list of available and make a proposal for an original artwork based on its technology that addresses its innovation challenges. The application is via an electronic platform.
The selected artists will contribute to the innovative aspects of ICT R&D projects’ research by bringing original perspectives through their artistic practices. Those practices should naturally lead to an original artwork based on the project technology featuring novel use-cases with a high potential for innovation. VERTIGO will also act as a platform to showcase produced works to the public and actors of innovation.
Artists can apply with or without a producer.
In total the initiative is looking to fund a minimum of 45 residencies with a budget of 900.000€.
