construction will be digital!

The digitalisation of construction, backed by ‘Digital Lëtzebuerg’, represents enormous potential. In the same way as the introduction of computer-assisted design completely changed the working methods of architects in the 1980s, Building Information Modelling (BIM), as the new way of designing projects, will revolutionise the construction sector.

In the Grand Duchy, the CRTI-B (Centre de Ressources des Technologies and de l'Innovation pour le Bâtiment – centre for resources, technologies and innovation in the building sector) is the strategic partner for the development and implementation of a BIM strategy for the Grand Duchy.

On 14 November 2017, in collaboration with OAI, Neobuild and LIST, the CRTI-B organised a conference on the subject of the practical applications of BIM and future development, in the presence of Prime Minister Xavier Bettel and bringing together nearly 250 professionals in the sector.

In his address, Xavier Bettel emphasised the horizontal nature of digitalisation, and presented BIM as a key project for promoting the digitalisation of the construction sector. He confirmed that the Government is encouraging standardisation of the use of BIM in its own building projects. The Administration responsible for public buildings is also making a substantial contribution to the development of the BIM process by taking part in a number of pilot projects.
