On 15 June 2016, at the inauguration of the extension of Technoport’s fab lab at the 1535° creative hub in Differdange, Secretary of State for the Economy Francine Closener announced in her address the creation of a cluster bringing together the country’s players in the field of creative industries.
The new cluster is directed at professionals in the creative industry sector; it is to serve as a platform, with the aim of supporting the economic development of this sector, which brings together activities such as architecture, arts & crafts, film production, design, the games industry, marketing and communication, fashion design, and the new media.
In her address, Francine Closener said, “It is high time to take account of the economic impact of the creative industries, which is just as important as their cultural and social impact. With this in mind, I have decided to create a new cluster devoted to creative jobs, bringing together their skills and their know-how, strengthening collaboration, and supporting entrepreneurship in this sector.”
The Secretary of State for the Economy also repeated in her address the Government’s agreement in principle to the creation of a joint-venture between the town of Differdange and the Luxembourg State giving the 1535° creative hub more resources, so that it is able to fully assume its role as a player in an ecosystem favourable to the development of young innovative businesses.
