In 8 June 2016, the Ministers with responsibility for steering the ‘Digital Luxembourg’ initiative met the members of the board of management of ICTLuxembourg, the federation of nine associations in the ICT sector, to take stock of how the sector is developing in the Grand Duchy.
‘Digital Luxembourg’ brings together stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, and bases its work on regular discussions and on ideas injected by all the partners involved.
In a constructive discussion at this latest meeting, Prime Minister and Minister of State Xavier Bettel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy Etienne Schneider, and Minister of Finance Pierre Gramegna referred to recent progress in digital development, and commented on the new recommendations made by their partners. The discussion covered subjects such as the ecosystem of start-ups, the regulation of FinTech, the challenges raised by cyber-security, making SMBs more aware of the digital economy, developing competencies, connectivity, and work at the European level on the single digital market.
ICTLuxembourg expressed its satisfaction at having been able to contribute to the setting up of a number of important projects, including the creation of the Digital Tech Fund and application of the principle of ’Digital by Default’, and congratulated the Government on this.
Xavier Bettel thanked ICTLuxembourg for its active participation in implementing the ‘Digital Luxembourg initiative and invited it to continue the dialogue, in the interests of the Grand Duchy’s ICT sector and the modernization of the country.
