The Grand Duchy’s national library (Bibliothèque Nationale - BnL) invites the public to use its automated borrowing system at the media library.
More than 15 000 DVDs, Blu-ray discs, CDs and language methods can now be borrowed and returned by the borrowers themselves via a multilingual automated terminal that uses radiofrequency identification technology (RFID). This technology gives borrowers greater autonomy, bringing the philosophy of self-service into the library environment.
The RFID pilot project being carried out at the media library gives the BnL an opportunity to test this new technology before implementing it in the new building scheduled for opening in the second half of 2018 at the Bricherhaff in Kirchberg.
The media library is open to the public during the opening hours of the BnL: from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays to Fridays, and from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturdays.
