Luxembourg innovators prominent among Pitch Your Startup finalists

Luxinnovation and Docler Holding have announced the finalists for this year’s Pitch Your Startup competition, to be staged during the ICT Spring Europe conference in Luxembourg on May 9.

The organisers have received more than 160 applications from 25 countries, which a jury has narrowed down to a shortlist of 17 firms that best meet the criteria of innovation, uniqueness, creativity and growth potential.

The finalists include nine start-ups from Luxembourg, alongside firms from other European countries and from Israel, Singapore and South Korea. Each participant will have 3 minutes and 33 seconds to pitch its idea to the jury during the event, followed by a two-minute question-and-answer session. The winner will be announced at the ICT Spring Europe gala dinner.

The jury members, drawn from Luxembourg’s technology and business community, comprise Xavier Buck (DCLGroup), Nicolas Mackel (Luxembourg for Finance), Marton Fulop, Keith Hopper and Karoly Papp (Docler Holding), Jean Hilger (Banque et Caisse d’Épargne de l’État), Jean Diederich (Wavestone), Pol Goetzinger (Innohub), Jerome Grandidier (European American Enterprise Council) and Jean-Michel Ludwig (Luxinnovation).

This year’s prizes are equivalent to a total of €100,000, including 50,000 in cash. The European American Enterprise Council will offer a three-month accelerator programme in the US and free participation in next year’s the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

Innohub will offer a three-month accelerator programme in Luxembourg, including a 360° analysis based on the ISMA 360 methodology, as well as coaching.

The innovative projects or technologies presented by Luxembourg-based participants in this year’s Pitch Your Startup event comprise message-based money transfers (SnapSwap), social networks (Judg.it), personalised web sites (Adapti.me), online authentication (Trust1Team), virtual reality (Realab), AI-powered soundtrack composition (Aiva), anomaly detection (Black Swan), multimedia data mining (Velocity) and smart locks (Keymitt).
