On 26 September 2016, LU-CIX presented its new data center platform datacenters-in-europe.com. It aims to bring together all players in the sector, whether they be data centers, cloud, colocation or related service providers, under a common umbrella that will allow them to promote their services and solutions, attract new customers, through a blog open to all members.
Marco Houwen, President of LU-CIX, presented the successes that Luxembourg already has in the Data center sector and highlighted the fact the 25% of the most secure (Tier IV) Data centers in Europe are actually based in Luxembourg.
Pierre Goerens from Digital Luxembourg said that "in a globally connected world, high-performing ICT infrastructures are key. For many business activities, the availability of ultra-high speed networks is not enough. They also need ultra-low latency." He went on explaining that "you can have the fastest car, you can have the broadest highway with unlimited speed, but if you don’t take the shortest route, you will nevertheless arrive late! In Luxembourg, LU-CIX ensures that the national Internet traffic takes the shortest path through our high speed network infrastructure. The development of the ICT sector as such, the availability of excellent ICT services to the businesses of all other sectors, the securing of the right skills, ensuring first class connectivity and fostering the use of digital services by citizens, businesses and administrations in all areas of the society: all those go hand in hand. And that is what Digital Luxembourg is about."
