On 10 October 2016, LuxConnect celebrated its tenth anniversary.
The company was set up in 2006 by the government in particular to improve the international connectivity of the Grand
Duchy. In these ten years, LuxConnect has laid more than 1,000 km of dark fibre across the country and built four data centres.
The Prime Minister and Minister for Communications and Media, Xavier Bettel, congratulated LuxConnect, "a key component which is part of our vision for a digital Luxembourg", for the work carried out, which will enable the country to "take a further step towards seizing the opportunities offered by the digital world. Now with Digital Lëtzebuerg we have generated this new dynamic which is necessary in order for all parts of the economy, the administration and society to actively participate in this transition towards the digital society.
