1) France’s Mistral AI to open Luxembourg office to lead on public sector digitalization & AI initiatives

The Luxembourg government has announced a partnership with French artificial intelligence firm Mistral AI to conduct digitalization projects and oversee the adoption of artificial intelligence technologies. Mistral, which will establish an office in Luxembourg, will co-operate on projects within the government, public research institutions and the armed forces, focusing on data sovereignty and on-premises infrastructure…

2) European executives call for delay to AI Act enforcement over regulatory uncertainty

Executives from leading European companies and AI start-ups including Mistral, Black Forest Labs, Airbus, BNP Paribas and Philips are urging the European Commission to postpone enforcement of the AI Act by two years. In an open letter co-ordinated by the EU AI Champions Initiative, which represents around 110 companies across the union, the executives argue that ambiguous and inconsistent rules could damage Europe's competitiveness…

3) Vodafone & AST SpaceMobile choose Luxembourg for headquarters of satellite communications joint venture

Vodafone and Texas-based satellite communications company AST SpaceMobile have established a joint venture company to be headquartered in Luxembourg, providing direct-to-device satellite broadband across Europe. Dubbed Satco, the venture is due to launch operations next year, providing secure and resilient digital communications infrastructure for both government and commercial use, and has generated interest from operators in 21 EU member states…

4) Luxembourg’s data protection authority & AI Factory launch artificial intelligence sandbox to ensure regulatory compliance

Luxembourg's National Commission for Data Protection and technology hub AI Factory have launched a sandbox initiative for artificial intelligence, Regulation Meets Innovation (REMI), designed to bring together regulators, researchers and entrepreneurs through focused working groups. The AI regulatory sandbox will enable projects to be tested for compliance with regulatory requirements ahead of market launch…

5) Luxembourg-based Artec 3D to receive €15m funding from European Investment Bank for 3D scanner research

The European Investment Bank has agreed a €15m venture capital and debt package with Luxembourg-based Artec 3D to accelerate the firm's research into high-tech 3D scanners. The funding, available over a three-year period, will enable the company to scale up research involving handheld scanners and artificial intelligence algorithms.
