Science Week – one week to discover science in all its aspects

The Ministry of Education, Children and Youth has gathered together a number of partners to launch the first Science Week Luxembourg, to be held from 3 to 9 July 2017. One week to promote science in all its aspects, to provide information on the many industries, careers, activities, resource centres, public and private initiatives, etc that already exist, and to develop young people’s interest in science subjects.

Science Week Luxembourg will therefore be highlighting the emergence of a real scientific culture in the Grand Duchy.

From 3 to 9 July, a number of events are to be held throughout the country, directed at schools and the general public, including the award ceremonies for the maths and IT Olympiads, a water day, an inter-school mental arithmetic challenge, physics and biology workshops, experiments to carry out at the Luxembourg Science Center, presentation of a number of Made in Luxembourg technologies, a workshop on anamorphosis and stereography, and a visit to an industrial site specialising in robotics. Registration is already open, and the programme can be viewed on the website at www.scienceweek.lu.

Science Week Luxembourg will be launched on Friday, 30 June at the Science Center in Differdange, in the presence of Minister for Education, Children and Youth Claude Meisch and Minister of the Economy Étienne Schneider, celebrating Asteroid Day 2017. Visitors will be able to take part in a number of space-related scientific experiments.
