To overcome the shortage of ICT specialists on the future labour market, the European Commission has launched a pilot project entitled “Digital Opportunity” in order to offer students and recent graduates across Europe a chance to take up internships lasting several months.
Although the Grand Duchy has a high proportion of ICT specialists active on the labour market, many businesses report that they are finding it difficult to fill posts requiring specialist IT skills. Yet human capital is a key factor in the competitiveness of every undertaking, and remains crucial to the Grand Duchy’s digital transition. That is why the promotion of IT skills is one of Digital Luxembourg’s priorities.
The “Digital Opportunity” pilot project aims to take up this challenge and accompany the process: by offering initiation internships lasting several months ‘in the field’ to students from all over Europe. The programme is open to students and graduates in all disciplines wishing to acquire practical experience in the digital sector in a country other than their own. The aim is for participants to either strengthen their competencies in specialist ICT areas or acquire more horizontal digital competencies that are sought after across different sectors.
In the context of the “National Coalition for Digital Skills & Jobs”, Digital Luxembourg encourages all undertakings interested in the scheme to offer internships to students and recent graduates to provide them with the best possible preparation for embarking on a career in the digital economy.
The programme is financed by Horizon 2020 and is part of the Erasmus+ programme. The first internships will be available starting in June 2018. Don’t hesitate to participate!
How to take part
Every undertaking is encouraged to get involved and post its offer on ErasmusIntern or Drop'pin.
Students and recent graduates who are interested can find out more about the Erasmus+ programme and how to take part in the new scheme by contacting their university.
