ebooks.lu, the e-book lending service launched by the Conseil supérieur des bibliothèques publiques and the National Library, is expanding its offer.
More than 700 additional e-books in French and English are now available for users of partner libraries and the National Library, bringing the total offer up to 79,916 e-books now available for borrowing free of charge.
The newly-available titles include first editions and translations of famous works, as well as classics and best-sellers, from Agatha Christie and John Steinbeck to Amélie Nothomb, Cecelia Ahern, Joël Dicker and Ken Follett. Fans of suspense stories and thrillers will be able to opt for detective novels by Jean-Christophe Grangé, or James Patterson’s Women’s Murder Club series.
Users signed up for the ebooks.lu service will be able to search on-line at ebooks.lu, and will be able to borrow the e-book(s) of their choice for downloading on all the most widely-used devices, including PC, iPhone, iPad, Android smartphone, tablets, and e-readers.
Loans are for a two-week period, which can be extended if necessary.
eooks.lu is the free lending service for e-books in French, German and English. The service was launched in 2015 on the initiative of the Higher Council for Public Libraries and the Luxembourg National Library (BnL).
Implementation of the service, in the form of a pilot project, and its management have been entrusted to the ‘Consortium Luxembourg’ department and to the IT department of the National Library, working in close collaboration with the twelve participating public libraries.
Joining the ebooks.lu service is free of charge; users can join at any one of the partner libraries. The e-books can also be searched using the a-z.lu search engine.
