Elements of AI Conference: An Open Invitation to Investigate AI

Free public event takes a broad look at AI innovation and impact in Luxembourg

Elements of AI in Luxembourg—a course that demystifies AI through online modules, webinars and in-person support groups—stands out by being accessible: It’s free, flexible and designed for learners of all backgrounds. The Elements of AI Closing Conference, unsurprisingly, adopts the same approach, inviting stakeholders, experts and members of the public for a daylong conversation on the many facets of AI.

The no-cost event opens its doors at 8am on April 3, 2025 at the University of Luxembourg’s Belval Campus. Its diverse list of presenters consists of policymakers, industry leaders, researchers and students, providing a full spectrum of perspectives on highly relevant topics.

“AI impacts all of society, so we need to present it in a way that’s accessible to everyone, not just experts, ” explains Claudine Kariger, Senior ICT Policy Advisor, Department of Media, Connectivity and Digital Policy. “That’s the whole goal of Elements of AI and this conference.”

As an extension of Elements of AI’s practical curriculum, discussions will largely revolve around the real-world applications and challenges of AI:

  • The AI Economy: Ethical considerations of AI with insights from Sébastien Respaut (Microsoft Luxembourg)
  • From Theory to Practice—LIST’s Role in AI Implementation: AI innovation for SMEs with Francesco Ferrero (LIST)
  • Tackling the Challenges of AI Education & Training for All: Insights on AI & adaptative digital skills education with Françoise Tort (PIX)

The agenda also includes in-depth presentations by the Digital Learning Hub and ADEM on upskilling, careers and training in the context of an evolving AI landscape.

Elisabeth Margue, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister for Media, Connectivity and Digital Policy, and Anne Calteux, the European Commission’s Head of Representation in Luxembourg will help open the event.

Later on, representatives of Elements of AI visiting from Helsinki will present on the impacts of the program, as well as the results of a recent Elements of AI survey.

The conference lasts until 3:30pm, incorporating a lunch break and giving attendees ample opportunity to connect and network.

It concludes the fourth edition of Luxembourg’s Elements of AI, which has become an integral part of the nation’s commitment to equip at least one percent of its population with essential AI knowledge.

The initiative’s success is thanks to collaboration across multiple organizations: Innovative Initiatives (part of the Department of Media, Connectivity and Digital Policy); the University of Luxembourg; the University of Luxembourg Competence Centre; and the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth

Moving forward, Luxembourg will continue to prioritize accessible, inclusive learning opportunities that unlock AI for everyone.
