Lux5GCloud proposes a smart cloud platform that allows dedicated users—from farmers to scientists to policy makers—to collect and share relevant data, and also enables several applications.

The project’s selected use case is soil moisture monitoring, which is a key parameter for crop surveillance. The data collected through the platform, and made available through a user-friendly application, enables farmers to better understand the actual status of the soil and crops, and thus better manage drought. On a farmer’s field in Waldbillig, a feasibility study is compiling Earth Observation (EO) images collected from satellites, IoT data collected from in-situ sensors and high-resolution images captured with an advanced IoT device equipped with a camera.

The project was presented at the 2022 Agricultural Fair in Ettelbruck.
