MyGuichet.lu: Public Services on Your Phone

Luxembourg introduces a new app for simpler, faster interactions with citizens

Earlier this month, Luxembourg’s MyGuichet.lu – created to improve administrative procedures and citizen-government interactions – enhanced its services even further by launching its mobile application.

The app, which went live on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, is part of the nation’s Electronic Governance Strategy 2021–25, modernizing Luxembourg’s digital public services by building upon the existing MyGuichet.lu portal.

Nowadays, people can execute the majority of web-based tasks over their phones. Due partly to the complexity of government structures and the sensitive nature of personal data, public services face unique challenges when going mobile. The new MyGuichet.lu app, therefore, represents a radical shift, simplifying procedures that were once a pain point for citizens.

Through a password or biometric security feature – facial recognition or fingerprint scan – users gain access to their entire MyGuichet.lu account. Once a portal is linked to the app, future logins are quick and easy, no longer requiring double LuxTrust authentication.

Citizens can check the status of applications, message public administrations and make appointments, for example with the CNS or for a Covid-19 vaccination. Attaching and sending documents is as easy as taking a photograph. The photo will automatically convert into a PDF, letting users avoid a multi-step, scanner-dependent process.

Importantly, the mobile application incorporates a CovidCheck feature wherein users can quickly pull up their CovidCheck Certificates to prove that they have been vaccinated, recovered from Covid-19 or tested negative.

The number of administrative procedures available on the app will continue to grow in the coming weeks and beyond.
