new edition of Smart ICT for Business Innovation course at University of Luxembourg

Following on from its success during the 2015-2016 academic year, a new intake of students for the course leading to the Smart ICT for Business Innovation university certificate will be starting work at the University of Luxembourg in February 2018. Organised collaboratively by the University and ILNAS, this continuing professional training course offers professionals in the information and communication technologies (ICT) sector a recognised qualification in Smart ICTs.

The Smart ICT for Business Innovation programme, updated to take account of the latest progress in Smart ICTs (such as cloud computing, the Internet of things, big data, and digital trust), will enable students to hone their skills in these areas. The course offers premium access to the knowledge provided by the normalisation of technologies, based on the latest progress, offering leading-edge knowledge on the subject at the same time as exploring the possibilities opened up by Smart ICTs for innovating and developing new economic activities. Apart from its technical aspects, the university certificate also includes a module devoted to innovation and economic development, so that students will find it easier to set up their own innovative projects.

The training is aimed more particularly at professionals active in the ICT sector who are keen to develop their Smart ICT skills and grasp the stakes involved and issues of technological normalisation. The training is organised as evening classes over two semesters, with 120 hours of classes, seminars, and a 48-hour internship in a company. The latter is used to develop an end-of-course economic innovation project in an area of Smart ICTs that makes use of the latest progress in technological normalisation. Students who complete the various courses with a positive assessment will be awarded a university certificate, which is worth 18 ECTS credits.

National and European backing

The Smart ICT for Business Innovation course has substantial institutional backing in both the Grand Duchy and Europe, which demonstrates the importance of the programme for the development of ICT skills and education in normalisation. The university certificate is supported by the Ministry of the Economy, the Chamber of Commerce, CEN-CENELEC, ETSI, Technoport, FEDIL-ICT, and Digital Luxembourg.
