Despite a year of change, the Coalition’s agenda has not slowed down

When the world went remote in early 2020 due to social distancing, the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition Luxembourg did not miss a beat. As an initiative that connects public and private stakeholders to respond to Europe’s digital skills needs, it relies on bringing its members together.

The Coalition’s 60+ members, all of whom share a commitment to promote digital skills, meet every three months. Although its meetings became virtual after its February 2020 Upskilling & Reskilling meeting, the team went full steam ahead and managed to maintain a lively calendar of events:


February | Upskilling & Reskilling

The core topics, from cross-skilling to advanced digital skills, were examined by experts from the Department of Media, Telecommunications & Digital Policy of the Ministry of State (SMC), Digital Luxembourg, the Chamber of Commerce and Luxembourg’s Chamber of Skilled Trades and Crafts.

April | Covid-19 Call for Pledges

Initiated by the European Commission, a call for pledges was announced in response to the pandemic, asking organizations to respond to the crisis. Speakers included representatives from the European Commission, IMS and Civitta. A digital skills matchmaking event for Luxembourgish pledges is planned for October 2021.

September | Working & Digital Skills in the Time of Covid-19

The Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition presented the results of its online consultation, which addressed digital skills and remote working; new models and habits for events and trainings; the state of the market for ICT specialist; and new challenges and topics of interest for members. They also discussed LISER's survey on this topic. View survey.

November | Digital Skills Training: State of Play

Event that featured presentations from the ADEM’s FutureSkills initiative, the Interoperability Academy of the ISA² program and Elements of AI.


May | Digital Skills & Space

Experts in space from SES, the University of Luxembourg’s Interdisciplinary Space Master program and Emtronix contributed their unique points of view to a conversation on digital skills in the context of space.

Aside from member meetings, the Digital Skills & Jobs Coalition remained active as part of Luxembourg’s digital community:

  • Ecole42 meeting in Luxembourg: January meeting between 15 Coalition members, economic managers and the famous French Ecole42's Director of International Development, Sophie Viger.
  • CEF Call for Tenders: Submission to Connected European Facilities for an Interoperable Digital Skills & Jobs platform
  • Cloud Award: Participation on the Cloud Award jury organized by the European Cloud Federation
  • Digital Skills Matchmaking event: Organized with IMS & originally planned to be held at ICT Spring 2020 (now planned for October 2021)
  • Digital Skills & Jobs Coalition presentations: Presentation of the Coalition at the Digital Innovation Hub skills event organized by Luxinnovation & at an Interoperable Academy civil servant training.

The Coalition’s governing board – which represents multidisciplinary perspectives from the SMC’s Department of Media, Telecommunications and Digital Policy, Digital Luxembourg, the Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Skilled Trades and Crafts – continues to meet quarterly to fuel a productive, fast-paced agenda.
